This post is two shows from The Great American String Band. Another Jerry Garcia side project. It only lasted a short time in this configuration. I can only find seven documented shows that they played. This appears to be a continuation of the Old And In The Way idea with Garcia on banjo and Grisman on mandolin. This band then eventually morphed into the first configuration of the David Grisman Quintet. Already at this point they are doing several songs that would be some of the David Grisman Quintet's standards.

I guess I was # 99901. I found you last week and I must say you put on quite a show. These GASB are something I never knew about. I've got a some of the older "Old & In The Way", but this is really nice to hear something new. Also wanted to say congrats on the 100,000 mark and keep up the search.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to echo matches comment. These are new to me too. Very many thanks. Len
