People often claim Christianity is intolerant. I always find that claim to be strange. We just state what our belief is and the hang up alway comes with that their is "one way" to God. So you don't believe it, and you tell me I'm wrong and you tell me what you believe. Are you now intolerant of my belief? No we just see it differently. I'm not intollernt of you I'm just sharing a different opinion. And I feel you should be free to express yours. Intolerance come into play when we restrict people ability to live out their belief and express it. When we won't allow another to have a view that is different. Or we attack the other with hateful words when we disagree. I'll show you it. It comes here all the time. Many of you may not read the Christian stuff and that's called free choice. But if you don't you are missing out on seeing what kind of intolerance for my belief is out there. There is a deep hatred for Christians that I often encounter. Look at the comments on this post and where it goes. I get you don't aggree I just don't get taking it off subject to attack me and call me a theif and all the anger.

I'm thinking of shutting down this blog because quite frankly I'm tired of being a place for others to bash my Lord. It's my blog. Someone telling me I don't play by the rules. What rules are those? Last I checked it was my blog. I get accused of deleting a comment that I did not. I have never deleted a comment on this blog. But there are no rules. If I want to I can. Who are you to think otherwise? We will see in the next few days what I decide. AZ Jones. Oh, yea and God Bless you all. Hope that does not offend you.
Hi AZ,
ReplyDeleteThe world is full of people who disagree & have their own opinions (however hateful they may be).
Shutting down the blog is probably not going to change that. I'm sure you're not the only person who ruffles the feathers of "Anonymous #1". At the end of the day, he makes his own choices as we all do. Judgement will ultimately be passed on us all when we meet our Maker, so have faith - everything will be sorted out in the end as He sees fit.
Yes I aggree but do I have to be the one who gives him a voice? He would not be heard if it were not for all I have built. The audience he has I created. Should I be the one that gives him an audience? I know He can't build a blog of his own that anyone would visit. So he comes here to express his hate of Jesus and I get used. Yet he claims I don't play by the rules. What a joke. Like I don't have the right to delete a comment on my own blog. Even though I didn't and never have deleted a comment. Felt like it plenty of times, but NEVER have.
ReplyDelete"I have never deleted a comment on this blog. But there are no rules. If I want to I can. Who are you to think otherwise?"
ReplyDeleteSee....? Like Father like son.
Dear AZjones, I don't share your belief in god and still I appreciate your refreshing blog. Don't get upset because some dumb cretin throws a stone in your pond, keep on expressing yourself, if only one person change its mind because of you it will be a successfull step.
ReplyDeleteBy posting openly your belief you expose yourself to opposition, don't get upset please
and just delete whatever you wish to, it is your freedom, don't feel guilty about it.
Appreciation from a french atheist who shares
many of your tastes.
Dear AZ - that would be a shame if you were to shut down because of what others say.
ReplyDeleteBut you also have to do what is right by yourself as well.
So ask for patience ad clarity , make your decision and stand by it.
Maybe take 40 days off and see where you are led.
I love your blog, it is the most entertaining and thoughtful of all the music blogs I visit
peace to you
Dwight
Hey AZ,
ReplyDeleteDon't let them get you down. Remember Jesus said it's not you they are rejecting, it's him. Please read 2 Tim. 3:3-5. You are doing a good thing here. Even if one person is saved by what you post, it has been for his glory. Keep the faith brother!
Dear Mr. Jones,
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, I was advised never to discuss two things with people. One was politics, the other was religion.
You had to have known going in that comments declaring your faith were going to be subjected to debate. Didn't you?
That said, I enjoy your blog and it's unique mix of elements. I will even add that while I don't practice any type of religion, like you, I feel a profound spirituality when in natural surroundings.
And the peace of the Lord shall be with you...This is not peace, gentlemen. He's not with either one of you. God does not need anyone to defend Him and there will always be people who don't see. Be content with planting a seed, whether it grows or not, and let God be God. Surely, you have a life outside of this blog, with real people that you can feel and touch and see that need the covering you could provide them in the name of Christ and the scriptures. Spend your time and energy with the people in your life who matter most to you, rather than people who insulate themselves from real accountibility with real people. Certainly understand that God does not work this way and this blog will never be able to deal with non-believers properly. Share your faith, but quit putting non-believers on display and ridiculing them as they ridicule you. You are right, it's your blog and you can delete whatever you want, so do it, and quit exposing others to this jibberish that doesn't put either side in a truthful light. It's sensationalism at best, verging on a wierd type of Jerry Springer show about Christ, where people bring out the worst in one another and it is not edifying at all. Other parts of this site are, including some of your faith posts, as long as you stop engaging the popparazzi, as if you are some kind of sidewalk prophet. Get real and get with real people. Jesus went to the sinner's homes
ReplyDeleteTo this guy. . . . ."I have never deleted a comment on this blog. But there are no rules. If I want to I can. Who are you to think otherwise?"
ReplyDeleteSee....? Like Father like son.
Yep. I still have the choice, and the power. But still choose to show you grace, and not delete you. Just like my Father lets you live and breath each and every day, but doesn't have to. Thanks for again proving my point. And thanks for the complement even though you thought it was an insult.
AJ sezz.." Yep. I still have the choice, and the power. But still choose to show you grace, and not delete you."
ReplyDeleteYes, and you are a childish tyrant Just like He can be at times, too. Go off and pound your chest to someone else, because I for one am not impressed.
I wonder what Jehovah God did to satan to piss him off so bad? Ever wonder about that?
" Just like my Father lets you live and breathe each and every day, but doesn't have to."
And why shouldn't He? All I do is speak truths. And they are HIS truths, as I have proven thru His very own Word here.
"Thanks for again proving my point."
And what point was that? You HAVE no point. You can't even make your own scripture jibe. Probably because you don't know your Bible anymore than you know yourself. Like not hearing the Holy Spirit when it comes to what you do here. You wouldn’t know His voice even if it was the shout at the last trump.
"And thanks for the complement even though you thought it was an insult."
LOL..!! No insult intended! Again, all I am after is the truth. And in digging it out, I simply let you insult yourself. It ain’t my fault that you don’t even know your own Bible. You can't even tap-dance well and you think you're invisible!
Jesus didn't let haters stop him from doing his thing. You shouldn't either.
ReplyDeleteAZ Jones: Jesus said you would suffer persecution in His name. Did you think that didn't apply to a blog where faceless cowards can snipe from their keyboards??
ReplyDeleteI share your beliefs, so I know where you are coming from. Bottom line, some people are so immature or un-evolved that they cannot agree to disagree without being disagreeable. That's their bag of crap to deal with. Short version, it takes 2 people to argue, and the hardest argument is silence. Let people say whatever they want -- it's their opinion, doesn't mean that you have to subscribe to it.
I really enjoy your blog and I hope that you can move beyond all this and keep on posting these ultra-cool bluegress boot. Peace, regards, etc...
.H*P*D.
Ever consider the possibility that you might have been trolled on? It does happen, you know. I'd check that boot-print in the center of your face and see if it fits any known profiles that might be cruizing about in the neighborhood ;)
ReplyDeleteHey AZ,
ReplyDeleteI mistyped the verses in my previous comment. It should be 2 Tim. 4:3-5. Either way don't let them get you down.
To Anonymous who said this. . . .AJ sezz.." Yep. I still have the choice, and the power. But still choose to show you grace, and not delete you."

Your right. You know the bible better than me. I'm flawed. Your right. Forgive me for my flaws. I forgive you for accusing me of deleting your post when I didn't and I forgive you for calling me a liar, and a thief. I forgive you for all the hurt you have caused me and will cause me in the future. Jesus essentially said the one purpose of His life was to give His life that I may be forgiven. Right before he did it he said "Forgive them for they know not what they do". It was his purpose to forgive, and it is mine. I'm sorry also to God if I painted a poor picture of Jesus by defending myself instead of letting it go. I Love Jesus and I love Father God and I get upset when they are treated poorly, but I'm sure they can take care of themselves. Anonymous who ever you are, I'm sorry that you have such hate for my God and those that follow. I don't know what has happened to you or the hurt that has caused such bitterness but it saddens me greatly to see the result. I wish you well, I will be praying for you as I have all along. In time we will all see for ourselves the true nature of God. I'm sure you will have some type of response to tell me where I'm wrong, and I can't wait to be humbled again to so I can grow and learn. Thanks for pointing out my flaws to this point so that I may self reflect and become a better representative of my Lord.
As for MY, yep that's MY blog. I am considering all the options. When I give freedom it seems people start to feel this blog is theirs or that it is just a place that exists without me. Being told to go somewhere else on my own blog shows this. People thinking that they can abuse that freedom makes everyone loose freedom. I'm surprised that none of the readers have stepped up and told this guy how they feel. I guess the freedom to express is not valuable to them or perhaps the blog is not. I may moderate comments, I may just take down the music and make it an all christian and outdoor blog, I may just call it quits all together, I'm not sure yet. Having someone come on my blog and act this way is like having someone in your home that speaks to you with disrespect. I don't understand this and would never treat another in this way. It is like a disconnect from reality of what a blog is. It's mine not yours. For me it is behavior that is so strange and hard to understand. If I did not like a blog I would just not go there, instead of trying to ruin it for everyone that likes it. Well something will most likely change thanks to this fellow and it won't be that I stop posting about God. And of course the guy will have a field day with this so let me have it dude.
ReplyDelete"Ephesians 6:4-9 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
ReplyDeleteHowever…… my hatred for MY father's unjust acts should not bleed over onto people like you. I just saw something that you said here a while back that spoke to me of the ignorant place I once was but have since been provoked into seeing the truth. And that truth is... The BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE until moral improves! If you can dig where that's at.
But that's not your fault, or the fault of your little blog here. I'm sorry I lashed out at you because I saw that you were once like me. This hurts me too, you know.
I will thereby depart and leave you in permanent peace. At least from as much as I as a mere mortal can deliver..
Whatever dude, you have issues. But I forgive you anyway. Somehow I doubt you will leave us in permanent peace. I'm very confused by you. And concerned. Man you seem like a tourchered soul. Sorry again for what ever has happened to you. I still don't get it and can't at all "dig where that's at". Won't ever be diggin the side of hate. Like what did Ephesians 6:4-9 have to do with anything? Oh well. You said "My hatred for MY father's unjust acts should not bleed over onto people like you." Well it did. Thats what happens when you use your vessel to carry bitterness, instead of love. Strange you call God your father quote His word yet believe it to be a lie, like the part that He is good, just, righteous. Wow that is confusing to me. Again I forgive you and hope you will find peace somehow. I will continue to pray. If you ever want to talk out of the public eye about the loss you have suffered. I don't normally give this out but arizjones@gmail.com I don't check it every day. It's not my primary E-mail but I would gladly listen to your story. Probably won't be able to help much but would listen and care.

I couldn't say it better! Thank you for the "live music".
There are plenty of bad religious folks. And there are plenty of good religious folks. I personally like the Seldom Scene
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your blog and have downloaded an item or two, and just want to say thanks for all the good work. I feel sad at reading this post and comments, and wanted to try and give you some context (in my opinion). In this day and age in the US, many fundamentalist Christians are actively trying to legislate their faith and force their beliefs on those who don't believe. They are trying to use law to dictate what my children can and cannot read, what they can be taught, what they can watch, etc. I run across so many Christians who can't wait to tell my that I'm going to hell, that Jesus was not full of compassion and love but is in fact very angry and really hates all kinds of people and things. They are even trying to revise history so that we were founded as a "Christian nation", in spite of all evidence to the contrary (again,IMHO). So very unfortunately, there will be a lot of people who are very angry at Christians right now, and it has nothing to do with being angry with God or daddy issues or bitterness. This situation is completely unfair to thoughtful, sincere Christians like you seem to be, but it seems to me that's the way it is right now. If you make a public blog and profess your Christian faith, you have to expect idiots to come here filled with anger and looking for a fight, especially in today's political atmosphere. I guess I would wish for you a thicker skin-- it's your blog, you can delete whatever posts you choose to. You can even make clear rules-- like, "if you post an attack on Christianity you will be deleted". That's your right, and while I don't share your faith, I would defend your right to believe what you want and to profess your faith publicly on your own blog. I guess I'm trying to say, please don't pick up your ball and go home. There are lots of people who may not share your faith but would gladly read about it and would fight for your right to express it. You have a wonderful blog here-- just put on the whole armor as it were, and let the heathen rage.
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, here's my opinion. I'm not Christian, and so there are things on the blog I don't read. It's as simple as that and anyone who reads things in order to disagree and be insulting has issues of their own. This is truly intolerant. I come here both for the music and the glorious photos and I'm grateful for both. Whatever comes, thank you for the enjoyment you've been good enough to share. bob-bwild.
ReplyDeleteTo Rob Meador. First off thanks for using a name. Second thanks for the encouragement. Rob you are free to express your view and I welcome that especially when it is done with respect. I feel that I sometimes may have missed the mark in that and am sorry if I have.
ReplyDeleteRob as far as your comments, I just don't aggree wit some of it. I feel it is the Christians who are being legislated against, by removal of prayer from schools in 1963, and removal of crosses from all public places. And I feel it is my child that is being forced to read text books with a slant. Recently the term Mother and Father was removed from all text books in a San Francisco school district because it "offended" gay people. I feel you are also wrong about the counties history and it is non-Christians who are re-writing history. This country was founded with the idea of freedom OF religion but has become a country of freedom FROM religion. The ones who wrote and passed the First Amendment of the United States Constitution hired chaplains within the same week. Arguing that the framers violated a law which they had just passed, is rediculous. It is important because it reveals the original intent of the framers. They also purchased 20,000 bible in that same year calling it "The great book of the patriots". So their intent was not to purge all things Christian from public places but to give freedom to people to express religion, even in punlic places. They just did not want a State Church like England had and with that I aggree. Anyway thanks for sharing your view, and allowing me to share mine
By the way Rob my friend. The different views of the founding of the country being founded as a "Christian nation" was covered in a post and the comments back around Thanksgiving. You will see that someone articulated the opposition view quite well and I allow it to stand for all to see even though I disagree.
ReplyDeletehttp://arizjones.blogspot.com/2010/11/thanksgiving.html Thanks again for expressing your thoughts. I do feel that there are many Christians that go too far, like protesting at funerals of veterans (How sick and demented). But as far as people being angry at Christians right now. There has always been angry opposition to Jesus, starting with the very people who killed Him. There will always be a spirit of darkness and hate that cannot stand the love and the light that is Jesus.
Dear AZ,
ReplyDeleteHey there buddy, I just wanted to let you know that I am 32 yrs. old, not from a Christian home and had not been to any church since I was a child. My wife and I have neighbors who invited us (nicely and not pushing) to their church for over a year before we decided that we would go with them along with our two children. It was the BEST decision that we have made in years, it most likely saved our marriage, and our oldest son has had a complete attitude and education turn around. I thank GOD. Many in America are lost, and I was lost myself as was my wife and family. We have been attending the church regularly for only about three months now and life is so much better. I wish this peace for everyone I know, most of which do not think about Christianity much at all except around Christmas.
ANYWAY, just wanted to let you know that I found your blog around the time that we were having major issues in my home and at about the time we decided to attend the church and learn about Him. Your blog let me know that there were cool people who like the Grateful Dead, Allmans, etc, etc, and who also love the Lord and are Christian and I just wanted to thank you for that. I hope you do not close down your blog because I am sure that there are many more men out there in my situation who are lost and need a seed planted. Your blog watered my seed and my life has had a MAJOR turn around. Thanks.
-FirstLight (formerly Ken)
You do not know how much that means to me. Praise God! for your return to the Father. Time for the angels to throw a party a son has returned. I turned to God when my child was born through miraculous circumstances 10 years ago. At the time I was in a car acident and could not work, with a chance of disability. God picked me up and gave me a new me, including a new career path. My wife once said the best thing God ever did for her was to give her a new husband. Same name but transformed. Well and now you sir have a great testimony to share about how God made changes in you and your family. Boy is that some nice news in a world of trouble. Just remember, it's not a spectator sport, and storms come to Christians and non Christians, faith does get tested. But it gives life a more profound purpose through the ups and the downs.
ReplyDeleteHey AZ Jones-- I responded to your posts last night with a lengthy post. I hit Post Comment and it said it got published, but it doesn't seem to be here. No worries though-- now I can boil it down to a couple of lines and save you a lot of reading!
ReplyDeleteIn essence I said I agree whole heartedly with you when you said the founders meant for us to enjoy freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Your comments also helped me understand how as a Christian you feel unfairly legislated against, something that started with the school prayer ban in the 60s. I'm still concerned about Christians today trying to legislate their faith, but your comments give me a context for a broader understanding of the issues. And finally I read the thread about the founders, and I still feel that their intent was to establish a secular nation, not a Christian nation, but I fully understand how deeply rooted in Christianity so many of the founding fathers were.
Oops! This turned out pretty long too! Sorry! Final word-- there's a lot we can agree on and areas where we just have two different perspectives, but I really appreciate your letting me give mine and I really enjoy reading yours. And above all, keep up your good work on this blog and don't let a few idiots mess up your good thing for everyone else!
i liked this blog, really good choices in music, but all this G_d stuff is becoming a bit too much to take
ReplyDeleteThen you really never liked the blog. Look at the description. Music, Spirituality, Outdoors. Take waht you like leave the rest, what is it hurting you? There is nothing to "take". Just don't read it if you don't want to. It's Easter week my brother, going to focus on my Lord. And the more people try to silence me the more I want to talk about God. Being put down for my faith just makes me push closer to the one who provides an anchor in the storm. Can't help it.
ReplyDeleteKeep the Faith!!! I like your blog. It's fairly obvious what you're about, spirituality, big crosses, Bible quote on the front page. Seems to me your coming straight across. Trying to infuse a little more love in the world. Keep it up brother!!!
ReplyDeleteThe surest way to not be doing what God wants you to do is to listen to what other people think you should be doing. Pray in silence and listen to God.
To Rob. Thanks. That is what it should be about. You don't have to agree. Maybe what happened to you with your post is what happened to the one who accused me of deleting, just to be fair and keep it in perspective. You can see from the Thanksgiving deal that purging Christian things from the public places feels like an attack and persicution to us. Traditions such as prayer at congrees have gome on for a long time. There are people who want to remove crosses at Arlington cemetary. They made them take down a cross on a hill in San Diego at a Veterans memorial. People have tried to force the removal of roadside crosses commemorating the death of police officers in Utah. Childern have been sent home from schools because they would not remove rosary beads. So feeling attacked leads to Christians using the courts. Of course each side takes it too far and becomes more and more antagonistic, and polarized. Christians like myself wonder whats the big deal, why remove a cross, prayer, God from the pledge, and all that. None of it lead me to belief when I was a kid (I did not convert till 42). Why attack this stuff? We feel the Athiest belief system (and it is a belief) is being forced down our throats, instead of a tolerance for both.
ReplyDeleteI found this for Arizona in Luke 18:10-13
ReplyDelete"Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: `God, I thank You that I am not like that cheating tax collector over there. `I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, `God, be merciful to me, a sinner!. "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
I see by your response to the other dude there that you are the proud, haughty Pharisee. You were shown here a tender mercy and you didn’t even recognize it. You saw it as a weakness in the guy who was mercifully stopping his assault on you. He was trying to lay pearls at your little cloven hooves but think that it did not work out so well. When the facts are you still don’t know your bible very well. And you probably aren’t even walking with god either. And what you do here is still seen as theft by most within the recording industry. And on top of it all you rest easy in it! None of these things have changed in the least because someone felt like the bad guy about having to be the one to point it out. Nor does it change the fact that god is still a prickweed jerk for making some souls in the image of his favorite Abel and others the unfortunate Cain! So you can quit exulting yourself, DUDE. And get humble instead, so god won’t have to come along and do it for you again.
Ah! Thanks Aaron. It is interesting you call his parting shots a “tender mercy”, it may be what you call a type of mercy but did not appear to be tender to me. He really only stopped after I said this "Your right. You know the bible better than me. I'm flawed. You are right. Forgive me for my flaws. I forgive you for accusing me of deleting your post when I didn't and I forgive you for calling me a liar, and a thief. I forgive you for all the hurt you have caused me and will cause me in the future." and this "I can't wait to be humbled again to so I can grow and learn. Thanks for pointing out my flaws to this point so that I may self reflect and become a better representative of my Lord."
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you too Aaron Eel.
You know. . . . . you write in phrases just like he did.
So my friend who casts stones do you walk in perfection? I KNOW I don't and don't claim to. But I'm also not throwin’ anything at you not that I could (or would), you don't expose yourself. Only one out of 12 gets out of the boat. Only one out of 12 dares to walk up the hill to the cross and put themselves out there as one of His in public. Anyway sorry to offend you with the smelly bait I use to fish for men. But the truth is I will listen to God not men. And I will not worry about pleasing men. If God tells me to carry the ark into battle at Jericho (against the LAW) I will obey.
It is strange that there are two scripture experts that talk the same way and have the same bitterness for God, the same judgmental, legalistic spirit. It appears the same translation. Same belief that the bible can be used to convict others, and yet denounce the part that says God is good, just, and righteous. Same bagging on me for trading music while they are at a music site most likely to download. Sounds like the same kind who put my Lord on a Cross. So you want to string me up too? Go ahead, I’m getting used to it. But I know it's not the same, I'm a sinner and certainly not blameless, in fact I have admitted I did not handle it well. Anyway like I said before to You. . . .I mean him. . . ., I’m sorry for my flaws and imperfection and, and I forgive you for calling me proud, haughty, a Pharisee, and the rest. And I forgive you for the things you are still to say. I’m sure in your own way it’s how you love I guess. But to me it comes off as anger and hatred for God that as you. . . .I mean. . . he said should not spill over on someone so lowly and ignorant as me, with no knowledge of the bible. After all I have not been elevated like you and him by being “provoked into seeing the truth”. So I guess you are trying to bring me up to speed and into the big boys club of humility. That club of unequaled knowledge of the worthless word of God. Because if God is a “prickweed jerk” as you say then it is a pack of lies, because it says He is good, kind, loving, just, and righteous. But you still quote it and seem to think your (better than mine)knowledge of it has value. Thanks for your concern and display of what you consider love (not much different than what you accuse God of, you know beating the ones He loves). Anyway I love you, am concerned for you, and wish you had not been hurt so by life, I will be praying for you as well, and the offer to talk through e-mail I extend to you as well (see above).
ReplyDeleteAZ Do not give in to the nonsense of others I for one need to be able to read your blog as I go through my own trying times I thank you for your recent comments on my blog....24hrdejavu
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support and being quite honest right now I need any prayers I can gather

Thanks Bill. Love your blog. Love the art work on it and the choice of music. If you like Quicksilver, Grateful Dead, and that San Francisco sound, this is a good place to go
ReplyDeleteAZ - I hope you keep the music, photos, and your faith-filled comments and just SHUT DOWN the comments section, even if temporarily. You might find you enjoy the blog more.
