.......... .. .. ........... "Once In A While You Get Shown The Light In The Strangest Of Places If You Look At It Right" :Robert Hunter

All of the music recordings on this site are recordings of independent origin (ROIOs) Music that has not been officially released. If you are an artist or a legal representative of an artist and you do not want your ROIO shared on my site for free among your fans (and creating new fans), just tell me in the comment area and I will remove them. By the way these recordings exist. They won't go away. All of them can be found at various places on line. Sharing just keeps the fans that support the artists from having to get ripped off by purchasing them on auction sites, and it also introduces music to people who would never have known the artist, creating a stronger fan base.

The Gospel Message Hidden in Genesis 5?

I have read through the bible now several times, and each time I see something else.  Most of the times through Genesis I just skim over Genesis 5 but even in this un assuming passage there is something very interesting hidden inside.  Genesis 5 is the written account of Adam’s family line leading up to Noah, and it goes like this
      When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.  After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.   Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
   When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father  of Enosh.   After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.  Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
   When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan.   After he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.   Altogether, Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.   And so on until you get to Noah.

So there are 10 names of guys that lived and died (except Enoch) who was raised up.  (That is another thing of interest in this simple chapter, that I already wrote about  http://arizjones.blogspot.com/2010/07/was-not-or-i-am.html )  So there are ten names rattled off like a list, kind of boring I always thought.
But hidden in it is something interesting.  You see all the names have a meaning, like Adam means man.  So what happens when we put together the names meanings?

Adam = Man
Seth = Appointed
Enosh = Mortal
Kenan = Sorrow
Mahalalel = The Blessed God
Jared = Shall come down
Enoch = Teaching
Methuselah = His death shall bring
Lamech = The Despairing
Noah = Rest, or comfort.

Put it together and you have the Gospel Message. In a nice short compact version.
I think that's rather remarkable!

Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring (the) despairing rest or comfort.

Here's the Gospel hidden within a genealogy only five short chapters into the first book of the bible.

   You will never convince me that a group of Jewish rabbis conspired to hide the Christian Gospel right here in a genealogy within their venerated Torah.  Or that Moses somehow knew to do this before he even knew there would be messiah that would die for our sin.  It is just one more thing that shows an incredible interconnection and unity of this book that was written by forty different people in different languages and times.  over thousands of years.

  2. This kind of convoluted self-deception is so sad. Arizona, I like your website for the music (our tastes are similar and I'm sure we'd get along) but the Christianity is misguided and wasteful. You were born with an intelligence that you're turning away from when you attempt to explain deep mysteries with shallow answers - which is all you'll ever get from religion. We have just one life, and no 'afterlife', so we need to accept that we'll never know how or why it is as it is. As Iris DeMent once wrote: "Let the mystery be".

  3. Balthasar. What can I say? Don't feel sad for me. I know you can't see it, but such judgment calling my belief convoluted self-deception and misguided and wasteful, infering a lack of inteligence, and shallowness is unkind in the least. I'm sorry I feel you are wrong and really are blind to spirit. Anyway arguing with you won't be fruitful so I forgive you for making such an attack of my belief, and I pray that you will come to see it in time. I once was proud like you thinking Christians were fools and that I knew it all. God got my attention, and my friend I have no doubt. It is not something vauge and shallow, but deep and real, and profound. He draws close to those who draw close to Him.

  4. Balthasar, as for being sure we would get along that would depend on you. Right now your intollerance of my faith and belief really does not picture "getting along". Your inability to ignore it and as your quote says "let it be" say something different than "get along". You see God is something that is central to my life and purpose, and I talk about it often, so If you were intolerant of that I'm sure I would be a bother to you. I on the other hand would continue to show you love and compasion, in spite of your intollerance. Balthasar my God loves you and so do I. Thanks for sharing, I'm glad you at least like the music.

  5. Hey AJ-- I posted (or tried to!) a rather lengthy comment on this post this morning, and it looked like it went through, but I don't see it here. Did you take it down (which is perfectly fine-- y our blog!) or did it not go through like before?

    Thanks!

    Rob

  6. Thanks-- I didn't think you had, but it was pretty long and I wasn't sure. Of course once it apparently posted I didn't keep a copy of what I wrote, so it's gone into the ether now. I did in there somewhere say thanks for all the great music you post, and that bears repeating!

  7. Hey Rob. Sorry, it sounds like you spent time on a thoughtful comment. Blogger appears to have some glitches now and then I guess? The other day it was down for more than 20 hours.

  8. Hello AZ...
    Great to see you post this on your site. I was amazed also when I first heard this study of Genesis 5 by Dr. Chuck Missler. It is the "Gospel Message" in abbreviated form. You can also find God's plan in the first sentence of the Word as well as the first word of the Bible. How do you see this perhaps one asks? Well, I'm glad you asked!!!
    Those names from Gen 5 are Hebrew names. Imagine for a moment God's plan for the ages. He needs to communicate with His creation and writes a book in Hebrew through specific men he has called to do so... 40 men of God who wrote the 66 books of the Bible over a 1500 year period, all with the same thread woven through every book, God's plan for the ages.
    The Bible is a Jewish book, written by Jews, Jesus or "Yeshua" is Jewish, coming back as a Jew, and the early church was comprised of Jews. We as gentiles are fortunate to be "grafted in" to the Jewish tree. Romans 11
    Some in the western church think that God is through with Israel as many of the "early church fathers" promulgated a doctrine of hatred for the Jews, calling them vermin, swine and Christ killers. Therefore we see the replacement theology of today saying that God is through with Israel and the "Church" has replaced Israel... Not so according to the Word.
    Christ is a Greek term and I would suggest in love and challenge my brothers and sisters in the Lord as well as those who do not believe to research and for believers... "study to show yourself approved, rightly dividing the Word of Truth" 2 Tim.2:15

  9. To Anonymous. I did not get the first sentance, and first word thing you are talking about. As for being grafted in to the Jewish tree, I get that. The Israelites it appears to me are the bride of the Father, while Christians are the bride of the Son or Christ, So we marry into the family. The Israelites will be pivitol in the end times, and the seven year period called the tribulation. Thus the amazing re-formation of an Israelite nation. I'm not sure I follow everything you are saying or the point you are making as far as Christ being a Greek word, and Jesus being Jewish.
