All of the music recordings on this site are recordings of independent origin (ROIOs) Music that has not been officially released. If you are an artist or a legal representative of an artist and you do not want your ROIO shared on my site for free among your fans (and creating new fans), just tell me in the comment area and I will remove them. By the way these recordings exist. They won't go away. All of them can be found at various places on line. Sharing just keeps the fans that support the artists from having to get ripped off by purchasing them on auction sites, and it also introduces music to people who would never have known the artist, creating a stronger fan base.

Miles Davis, two shows from Japan 1964

In July 1964, Miles Davis played three shows in Japan. This is the first and third shows. The second show was released as Miles In Tokyo. Saxophonist Sam Rivers only played with Miles Davis for a short time in 1964. Most fans remember him from the Miles In Tokyo album. So here is another two sets from that Japan tour. I read a lot of peoples views on Sam Rivers with Miles and well. . . . it's all just opinion and speculation. In my opinion Miles needed some one to fill the void when Coleman left, and Miles said he wanted Wayne Shorter but he was not available at the time. So you have opportunity for Sam Rivers. You can make your own judgment if he made the best of the opportunity.

Miles Davis, Two Shows from October of 1967

This is two very nice FM radio broadcast recordings of Miles Davis in 1967. The shows are just two days apart and give a good example of what the quintet sounded like at this time in history. Pretty nice group of musicians if you ask me.

Miles Davis, Five Shows From 1955-1969

Miles Davis is one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. His Kind Of Blue recordings alone would leave a lasting legacy. But he continued to push the boundaries of his art form and changed the landscape of how music would be played and listened to forever. Kind Of Blue still stands as one of the most important jazz recordings of all time. It is still remarkable by todays standards over 50 years latter. Here are several Miles davis live recordings from different times in his influential career. This is Miles Davis before the Kind Of Blue sessions. Pretty good straight ahead jazz.

Miles Davis
Kind Of Blue Sessions
Columbia 30th Street Studio
New-York, USA
3-02-59 and 4-22-59

Featuring John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderley, Wynton Kelly,
Freddie Loader, Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb

This is an official release so I'm not going to post it but it is something everyone should listen to. Here is a link to a site that has the uncut sessions with all the mistakes and second takes and false starts. It is still pretty short and amazing how they just played it and it was perfect and history made. I love when someone between tracks is telling the sound man that the floor squeeks.

This recording is of the "electric" jazz period where Miles took his music to a new place called Jazz Fusion. He was highly criticized for this but it started a whole new direction of music experimentation in the jazz world.
