A great recording from one of the greatest jazz fusion bands of all time.  I felt this one was worth uploading again.  Some fantastic playing on this by some of the all time greats.

This recording appears to be a soundboard but the info that came with it did not confirm this.  There are Youtube videos of this show with poor visual quality but great sound than claims the sound came direct from the front-of-house mix board, engineered by Brian Risner.  This may be from that source.  Anyway it is good stuff, from one of the greatest jazz fusion bands ever.

Weather Report, 5-13-1983

This is the post-Jaco edition of what many consider to be the greatest fusion band ever. I feel the rhythm section featuring Victor Bailey and Omar Hakim is able to do it more than justice. And with the ledgends of Zawinul and Shorter this version of Weather Report is still quite amazing. The sound on this is great. It must be a broadcast or soundboard.

Weather Report, 11-28-78

Here is a pretty sweet radio broadcast of Weather Report from Phoenix Arizona back in 1978. There are two songs missing because they are on an official release. If you have "Live and Unreleased" you could piece it together and have the whole show. Without those songs it is still great.

Zawinul Syndicate, 1998

Josef Erich Zawinul died on September 11, 2007 at age 75. Joe Zawinul was an Austrian-American jazz keyboardist and composer. His first appearance of note was with saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, Zawinul went on to play with trumpeter Miles Davis, and to become one of the creators of what is called jazz fusion. Later, Zawinul co-founded the groups Weather Report and the world fusion music-oriented Zawinul Syndicate. Zawinul was named "Best Electric Keyboardist" 28 times by the readers of Down Beat magazine. This show is a good example of Zawinul Syndicate and the sound is great. I only wish I could find a good bootleg with Scott Henderson on guitar with this band from around the same time period. The dummer Kirk Covington went on to play with Scott Henderson in Tribal Tech, one of my favorite fusion bands (wish Henderson was more trade friendly).

Weather Report, 11-14-80

Weather Report is of my favorite progressive Jazz bands. This is a show I had never seen before. It is only a partial show but I will take what I can get. Great musicianship and nice sound quality on this one.
