All of the music recordings on this site are recordings of independent origin (ROIOs) Music that has not been officially released. If you are an artist or a legal representative of an artist and you do not want your ROIO shared on my site for free among your fans (and creating new fans), just tell me in the comment area and I will remove them. By the way these recordings exist. They won't go away. All of them can be found at various places on line. Sharing just keeps the fans that support the artists from having to get ripped off by purchasing them on auction sites, and it also introduces music to people who would never have known the artist, creating a stronger fan base.

Grateful Dead, The Greek Theater, Berkeley, CA. Three shows May 1982 (SBD)

This is one of my favorite run of Grateful Dead shows I attended.  And I saw a lot of shows (over 150).  The run of shows was super well played and these are great soundboard recordings of the event.  It was my first time seeing the Grateful Dead at the Greek Theater.  Seeing them at the Greek was special.  The Greek was home turf and as such the shows have a special feel and attention to detail.  This one had an incredible Courtenay Pollock tie-dye stage backdrop.  This is well worth a listen from start to finish.  Powerful stuff.
Day one, the Friday eve show.  Just a warm up?  Hardly!  This Playin > Uncle Johns Band is fantastic.  The second set is one continual non-stop jam.  Otis the band's dog running out on the stage during intense jams.  Wavy Gravy during the break telling us to all protest against the Diablo Canyon Nuke Reactor (Grateful not Nuclear Dead).  The set list may not impress but it is how it is played not what was played on this one.  Short but sweet!

Van Morrison, London 3-21-1982 (SBD)

This concert features several songs from the Beautiful Vision album
that was released just a month before this show.  The Beautiful Vision
album had the same band members.  Paul Charles, who managed Morrison's business affairs at the time, commented that
"The idea behind the Dominion residencies "was not to 'come into town, do one show, get all the press down, get the radio and TV and record-company people".   "The best thing that he does is perform live. I think the Dominion concerts got a lot of coverage, and attention, without him having to do something he didn't like."
Morrison's love of live performing was reignited by this set of concerts and he commented at the time that it was "more like appearing in a play, going to the theatre and doing your job every day - which I prefer to touring because that's very fragmented and disorientating." According to Johnny Rogan, these performances "are still regarded by many as his most memorable since the glory days of the Caledonia Soul Orchestra".

Steely Dan, Chicago, IL, 9-03-2009 (SBD)

This show features the complete performance of The Royal Scam album.  Steely Dan released their 5th album, The Royal Scam, in 1976. The album peaked at #15 on the charts, on it's way to being certified gold. The album featured guitarist Larry Carlton.  Larry joins the band for this show, to help re-create that album live in it's entirety. The sound quality of this recording is amazing, all instruments are clearly heard, and the vocals are crisp. This recording is a must have for any Steely Dan fan.
